Pepmint is a JAVA wrapper over the famous Pygments library written in Python. Jython is used as the python interpreter for the JVM.

The current release uses the following version of frameworks:

  • Java 1.6
  • Jython 2.5.2
  • Pygments 1.4

Usage

The library can be used as,

public String highlight(String code, String language) {
	// must be an empty string at the least
	String formatterParams = "";
	
	Pepmint pepmint = new Pepmint();
	Lexer lexer = pepmint.newLexer(language);
	Formatter formatter = pepmint.newHtmlFormatter(formatterParams);
	
	String formattedCode = pepmint.highlight(code, lexer, formatter);
	return formattedCode;
}

Pepmint depends on the following Java library:

Jython is used to run native Pygments python code inside the JVM. Thus, the performance is slow.
